A pub the neighbourhood built
Two rooms, one long bar, and a few decades of West Vancouver evenings. Here's how The Squarerigger became the place people mean when they say “the local”.
The history
From ship's name to street corner
A squarerigger is a tall ship rigged for open water — the kind that once worked this coast. The name stuck to a room on Marine Drive, and the room stuck to the neighbourhood.
Generations of West Vancouver have used it the way a good pub is meant to be used: a pint after work, a table for the whole team, a Saturday that starts at the seawall and ends somewhere near the karaoke machine.
Our recent renovation brought in walnut, brass and a proper big-screen setup. What we deliberately didn't change: the prices, the welcome, and the staff who already know your order.

Dog friendly
Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the patio, and there's a water bowl by the door before you ask.
Pool tables
Two tables at the back, quarters on the rail. Winner stays on, as it has always been.
Darts
Boards up, chalk out. Regular league nights and room for anyone who wants a leg of 501.
Live music
Local and touring acts every Friday at 8PM. No cover, no ticket — just get here early for a seat.
Karaoke
Saturdays from 7:30PM with Tracey Dupre. The book is thick and the room is generous.
Sports on the screens
Football, hockey and the fights, on screens angled so there's no bad seat in the house.
Community
More than a room with beer in it
We host and back the things that make a neighbourhood feel like one: fundraisers for North Shore causes, team wrap-ups, the darts and pool leagues, birthdays that were only supposed to be one drink.
